Napa

article slide

The county seat and largest town in the Napa Valley, Napa is a vibrant contemporary community with high respect for its rich historic past.

Napa has been emerging as a destination in the Napa Valley over the past three decades due to an extensive revitalization of the downtown area. Its southern location in the Valley allows convenient access from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, adding to its appeal. Once a sleepy, rural farming community, home to Kaiser Steel and other heavy industry, Napa at one point had little to offer with regards to upscale lodging, dining, or wine-centric options.

After a flood in 1986, a coalition banded together to control and restore the Napa River. Thus began a renaissance of the downtown community that would continue up to present time – a virtual green light for chefs, hoteliers, wineries, and others to establish their businesses in Napa.

Today, Napa is celebrated for its luxurious lodging, chic restaurants, savvy wine bars and tasting rooms, boutique shops, and an elegant public market featuring some of the town’s trendiest eateries. Visitors have a myriad of wonderful options to choose from, all packed into the lovely four-square-block downtown; a small enough area to easily explore. A stunning riverfront promenade graces the Napa River downtown, beautifully complementing the town’s historical architecture.

Even with all the modern changes Napa has gone through, it still retains much of its friendly, small town charm, enticing residents and travelers to enjoy the town and it’s world-renowned Napa Valley surroundings.
